Search has a new 'Ask' tab. Describe what you are looking for in plain language, and Ask finds the articles, stories, and companies that match your meaning, not just your exact words. Available for all users.
Keyword search is precise when you know exactly what you are looking for. Sometimes, though, you know the idea you are after without knowing the words an article used to describe it, and the right coverage stays just out of reach.
Ask is a new mode in our search feature. Open search with Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows), switch to the Ask tab, and describe what you are looking for in plain language. Ask matches on meaning rather than exact words, so a query like green energy investments surfaces the relevant coverage even when those words never appear in the text.
We translate news before it is indexed for search, so Ask matches meaning across our Nordic-language sources. You can find a story without knowing the right keyword in the original language.
Ask searches three things, grouped the way the rest of search already works:
- Articles
- Stories
- Companies
It runs alongside keyword search, not in place of it. Reach for keyword search when you know the search term, company name or ticker. Use Ask when you know what you mean but not the words for it.
Ask is now available for all users, at no cost.
